If the Magpies defeat Leicester on Monday night, they will guarantee a top-four Premier League spot.
No matter what he accomplishes at Newcastle, Eddie Howe has acknowledged that he will never be able to bathe in glory.
In his first full season as manager, the 45-year-old has led the team to the verge of Champions League qualifying.
A victory over struggling Premier League team Leicester at St. James' Park on Monday will be sufficient to guarantee a top-four spot.
Even though the season saw the Magpies reach their first major cup final since 1999 and ended a 20-year absence from the spotlight, the head coach of the team was unsatisfied.
Howe responded, "Unfortunately, absolutely, which means you're on sort of a conveyor belt that you can't get off.
"That's a tremendous accomplishment, everyone will agree. I keep thinking about the upcoming challenge and preparing for it because you can't just sit back and say, "Right, I'm going to take a month off and go relax on a beach."
"The reverse is true; the question is, 'Okay, how can we now succeed in that next phase?' You are therefore very much constantly wanting to get better.
Since Amanda Staveley's consortium completed its ownership in October 2021, Newcastle has risen quickly, and even though the Saudi-backed owners have invested more over £250 million in the football team, Howe and his staff have had a truly notable impact.
The former Bournemouth manager said Staveley and spouse Mehrdad Ghodoussi remain very much at the center of that, which has been cultivated throughout the organization.
"I invited Amanda and Mehrdad up to speak to the squad, I think it was about ten days ago, just to have that contact with them, with the owners because it's so important as a club we're one from top to bottom," Howe added.
If Newcastle makes the Champions League, Eddie Howe won't "relax on a beach."
