The Premier League championship will be won by Pep Guardiola's team for the fifth time in six years.
Ilkay Gundogan, the captain of Manchester City, commended a group effort after Pep Guardiola's team repeated as Premier League champions following Arsenal's 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.
A victory for the Gunners would have prevented City from celebrating their title before Sunday's encounter against Chelsea at home.
However, Forest's triumph in front of a boisterous home crowd thanks to a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi in the first half was sufficient to guarantee their own top-flight place once more.
With three games remaining, Guardiola's team will win the Premier League championship on Sunday for the third consecutive year and the fifth time in six seasons.
As Mikel Arteta's team stumbled, City had surpassed Arsenal's eight-point advantage, winning 11 straight Premier League games, including a 4-1 triumph over their rivals at the end of April.
City is still on track to win the treble as they are unbeaten in their previous 23 games in all competitions and have advanced to the finals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.
On the Manchester City website, Gundogan said: "To have assisted the team win a third consecutive Premier League title is something very special.
"Given that the Premier competition is unquestionably the most rigorous and tough competition in the world, it should be abundantly clear how remarkable this accomplishment is.
Being the captain this season has been a tremendous honor because this team is so skilled and unique.
"I also want to thank Pep, the entire backroom staff, and everyone who works across this football club," German midfielder Gundogan continued.
"They assist in giving us players all we need to try to succeed every single day. Without all of their help, there is no way we could have taken home this trophy.
It's amazing to have won this award five times in six years and three times in a row. The club will continue to strive for success in the future because to that quality and consistency, which helps define what Manchester City stand for.
