West Ham fans have been left sweating over their journey to the Europa Conference League final, after a surge in travel prices threatens to spoil their historic cup run.

The Hammers booked their place in the final of the competition after a 3-1 win, on aggregate, over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

In doing so, the east London side secured a spot in a European final for the first time in 47 years, however, only a selection of Hammers fans will be able to attend it.

The Europa Conference League final takes place on June 7th in Prague's Eden Arena, which has a capacity of 19,370 - less than a third of the size of the London Stadium.

This leaves David Moyes' side with just 4,890 seats available and further issues for supporters have been flagged after travel prices took a massive upturn.

With West Ham fans eager to book their travel arrangements to Prague, after the win, it led to a huge spike in flights to the capital of the Czech Republic.

The cheapest direct flight to Prague now costs £1,100, according to Skyscanner, and is only likely to get worse as thousands of fans look to attend West Ham's final.

Around 10,000 West Ham fans without ticketsattended last season’s Europa League semi-final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, and it is thought that a similar number could travel to Prague.

UEFA initially set aside 8,500 tickets for the public, and reserved 4,300 for sponsors and national associations.

It means both teams have been allocated just 4,890 tickets for the showpiece final at the Eden Arena.

For context, West Ham sold 55,000 season tickets for the 2022-23 season, meaning that regular home fans will struggle to legitimately buy a ticket within the Hammers section.

Their opponents for the final, Fiorentina, have a stadium that holds 43,147 - more than double the number who will be in attendance on the day.

Many fans are still expected to travel to Prague to soak up the atmosphere in the historic city, but there are concerns that fans might be ripped off by secondary ticket sites and scam artists.

Even before West Ham's place in the final was confirmed with a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaarthe Metropolitan Police and The FA raised their concerns about public order, particularly concerning ticketless fans.
