The national coordinator of the Ghana Boundary Commission is urging Ghanaians and Ivorians living on the border of Grand Bassam to do their part to protect the borders of the two countries by reporting any violations.
Major General Emmanuel Kotia,speaking at the awareness event, urged the community to be cautious. “We want to takethis opportunity to advise you to be careful about our borders.
"Make sure that any violation by any party will be reported toeither the Ghana Boundary Commission or the Ivory CoastBoundary Commission," he said. He said that by maintaining the sanctity of the international demarcation line, the peoplethere are helping to protect the borders of the two countries.

The Chief Resident of Ghana and Grand Bassam expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign. He said they will help protect the western coast of Ghana.
“This program has been very helpful and as you can see my team is very interested in the education we have received.We are from Ghana, and it isour responsibility,” he said.
Another resident, a fisherman, Robert Adjorlolo, said he had heard about the water dispute and the decision of ITLO, but hedid not know that he had a role in enforcing the decision. Hesaid they will report any violations.
