Former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police, COP Bright Oduro (retired), has spoken outabout the allegations leveledagainst him by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central(MP), Kennedy Agyapong before his retirement .
During his tenure, COP Bright Oduro (retired) faced severalcriminal charges and defamatory remarks byKennedy Agyapong. Among these allegations, the most popular one is that the former CID director conspired with the security forces to threatenpeople and extort land from them.
In short order, as the chargesagainst him continued, the police capo was asked to take a leave of absence which led to his retirement. COP Oduro (retired) named Kennedy Agyapong as the subject of his sudden dismissal from the police force.
According to him, the Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Kan Dapaah sacked him because ofAssin Central MP's commentswithout giving him justice.
Commenting on how he pursued the allegations against him, COP Bright Oduro, in an interview with Fm in Accra, saidhe would need to get Kennedy Agyapong on the phone to find out what the MP has against him. To his surprise, the lawmaker remained silent and unable to speak during thephone call.
He added, "I had the opportunity to play the show on Net2TV when Kennedy Agyapong was making theseallegations, but he could not take it."
He added, “After the show, I called him back and asked him why he was making theseallegations, but he couldn'tspeak. He never responded," he said.
COP Bright Oduro further pointed out that given hisposition in the police department, there was no reason for him to be involved in the National Guard. He doubted the Earth Guardianswould have had the money to make it a worthy gift.
