Manchester City will target a swap deal for Joao Cancelo and Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich this summer, with Pep Guardiola permanently excluding the loan-loan Bayern right-back from his plans for next season. .

Cancelo joined the Bundesliga giants in January on loan after expressing his verbal dissatisfaction with not being able to play at the Etihad. The Portuguese was greeted with boos from the fans upon his return to City last month as they knocked Bayern out of the Champions League.

According to the Sunday Mirror's Simon Mullock, Guardiola has told the club he is not considering Cancelo's return to the squad after the 28-year-old caused trouble in the dressing room due to his lack of regular play.

Furthermore, following the withdrawal of the right-back, the City manager is said to be aiming to reunite with the versatile defensive midfielder from Bayern Kimmich in a swap deal for Cancelo to stay in Munich. #ManCity is set to ask Bayern Munich if they are interested in a Joshua Kimmich swap deal to allow them to keep Joao Cancelo.

Guardiola signed the 20-year-old Germany international from Stuttgart in 2015, who was initially a right-back before becoming a more defensive midfielder. However, Kimmich can still play at right-back, a trait that the Man City boss will certainly want to use.

Now 28 years old, Kimmich has become one of the brightest stars in Germany and the Bundesliga with 76 caps for Die Mannschaft and 346 appearances for Bayern.

However, this could be the first season that the German military leader has not lifted the Bundesliga title, when Borussia Dortmund are only 1 point behind leaders Bayern while having a match in hand when the match is only 1 point left. a week. The midfielder is yet to play club football outside of Germany after winning everything available with seven Bundesliga titles, three DFB Pokals, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup and six German Super Cup.

It would be understandable if at 28, Kimmich was looking for a new challenge. However, it is not clear whether Bayern wants to stay at Cancelo.

The club opted to swap managers in March with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel taking over for Julian Nagelsmann. Under Tuchel, this right-back has had a pretty good time recently after starting the last 7 matches in the Bundesliga.

City already have regular Kyle Walker and young revolutionary Rico Lewis available at right-back while Rodri dominates Cityzen's midfield this season.

Whether they succeed in the treble hunt over the next few weeks or not, a move for Kimmich is sure to add quality to City's squad depth next season.
