As the 2022/23 season comes to a close, the fight for the 2023 Ballon d'Or becomes increasingly heated. Erling Haaland of Manchester City has recently risen to the top of the list of favourites. After a great season, the 22-year-old sensation has emerged as the favourite for the prize. He has a chance to finish the season with two more titles, including the Champions League, after helping City win the English Premier League.

Erling Haaland has scored the most goals in the English Premier League so far this season, with 36. Aside from assisting Manchester City to the Champions League final, the former Borussia Dortmund star will also be awarded the Champions League Golden Ball. The former Borussia Dortmund player will not only be winning the Champions League Golden Boot because of his 12 goals and one assist in the league, but also because he assisted Manchester City in reaching the final.

The primary factor keeping Lionel Messi from being written off just yet is his 2022 FIFA World Cup victory. He has so far contributed 15 goals and 15 assists in French Ligue 1. He had four goals and four assists in the Champions League.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior is the third favourite to take home the Ballon d'Or prize in 2023.

Kylian Mbappe, a standout for Paris Saint-Germain, is the fourth favourite. This season, the Frenchman has made his fair share of contributions to Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 38 goals and dishing out 9 assists in all competitions.

Jamie Redknapp says he 'felt sorry for Enzo Fernandez' during Chelsea's defeat by Man City

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Enzo Fernandez 'looked lost' during Chelsea's game at Manchester City, while the Sky Pundit also said he felt sorry for the World Cup winner.

Man City looked in cruise control during the match, taking the lead early in the game through a well-worked goal from Julian Alvarez, who swiped a shot across Kepa Arrizabalaga in net to put the hosts a goal up.

City had already claimed the title after Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and Redknapp also claimed that there was a 'testimonial feel' around the game, with the home side not wanting to incur any injuries, while Frank Lampard's team were hoping for an end to their difficult season.

Redknapp gave his opinion of what Chelsea's mentality would be coming into this game, with the Blues currently sitting 12th in the league after what's been a season to forget.

'We have to get this game over with,' he said on Sky Sports.

'I look at Enzo in midfield. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt, he was excellent at the World Cup.

'He looks lost, I feel a bit sorry for him. It seems the case for a lot of the players right now.

'I think the younger players are going to get as much experience as they can out of it. It's a tough one because you're playing against the champions, it's the parade.'
