The Minister of Finance,
Ken Ofori-Atta, said the move by the United States of America to establish a data center in Ghana will boost the confidence of investors in the country.

This
move, he said, will make Ghana an attractive investment destination for foreign investors. Responding to a message on his social media page, Ken Ofori-Atta said thegovernment is accepting the announcement of a private investment of $300 million from @DFCgov, to build a unique and creative data center in Ghana.

"After
the #IMFdeal, @UnitedStates took the lead in promoting renewed confidence in Ghana as an attractive investment destination. We welcome the announcement of a $300 million private equityinvestment from @DFCgov, to build a first-of-its-kind data center in Ghana,” he said.

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, the Department of FinancialDevelopment (DFC) revealedthat it has allocated a large sum of $300 million to establish a data center in Africa, with Ghana as the place where this project will be carried out. DFCsaid the project is part of the US government's support to promote digitization in Africa.

In a tweet viewed by GhanaWeb Business, he saidthat the establishment of a data center in Ghana will be the beginning of the digital revolution in the continent, as well as increasing access to cloud-based technologies. It will also reduce the cost of internet for women.

“Under
PGIL, USG will work to build data centers across Africa. This week, DFC announced thatit is using a $300 million loan from African Data Centers (ADC), the largest network of data centers in Africa, to build a unique data center of its kind in Ghana, in 'part of the newspaper read.

“Africa
accounts for less than 1% of the total global data available, despite being home to 17% of the global population. This investment builds on the Vice President's recent visit to Ghana and laid the groundwork for digital transformation on the continent by increasing access to cloud-based technologies, reducing internet costs , making it easier toaccess women and make the continent like this. anothercompetitive area for the company," he added.
