Michael Owen forecasts the final standing of Chelsea in the upcoming season under the newly appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

In a recent statement, Michael Owen has expressed his belief that Chelsea will make a strong comeback and secure a spot in the top four of the Premier League next season.

Despite the team's disappointing performance during the 2022-23 campaign, including a 1-0 loss to Manchester City, Owen remains optimistic about their prospects under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Owen emphasizes the importance of addressing the team's squad dynamics in order to achieve success. He asserts that Chelsea needs to offload several players in order to create a more harmonious and manageable squad. According to Owen, managing a large squad of 30 players with varying levels of quality is an arduous task and can drain valuable energy. By reducing the squad size and focusing on a smaller group of players, Owen believes that Chelsea will be better positioned to perform well in the upcoming season.

While acknowledging that player departures may not be a straightforward process, Owen suggests that it is a necessary step for the club's progress. He anticipates that some players may naturally leave due to factors such as age, inadequate performance, or the expiration of their contracts.

In contrast, Owen Hargreaves directs his criticism towards Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly for the team's disappointing season. Hargreaves questions the decision to remove individuals with strong football acumen, including Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia, from the club's hierarchy. In his opinion, the absence of knowledgeable football figures has contributed to the chaotic and reckless nature of the club's decisions. Hargreaves expresses astonishment that a significant expenditure of £600 million resulted in a finish in the bottom half of the league table.

In summary, Michael Owen predicts that Chelsea, under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, will secure a top-four position in the Premier League next season. He highlights the need to streamline the squad by offloading surplus players to achieve a more harmonious and focused team. On the other hand, Owen Hargreaves criticizes the club's ownership for their poor decision-making and the removal of experienced football personnel.
