Real Madrid coach speaks out about Vinicius incident in Mestalla
It was clear that Carlo Ancelotti was shaking and looking very serious and angry in the press room in Mestalla after the loss to Valencia.
Real Madrid coach has spoken out about racist words towards Vinicius Junior.
"I talked to him during the game because the atmosphere was so hot and so bad I asked him if he wanted to continue," he explained.
"I don't want to take it off because it feels racist.
"It never happened to me. Not like this. This is unacceptable and LaLiga has a problem that is not Vinicius. He is the victim.
"What to do? You can't play football like that. I would say the same if we win. It's too serious.
"They insult Vinicius all the time, then give him a red card.
"I'm very sad. It's a league with great teams, but we have to get rid of them. We are in 2023.
"The only way is to stop the game, yes there is a protocol, but you have to go home."
Arbitration Complaint
Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea was also criticized by the coach.
"You complain and see what happened. Nothing. The solution is to stop the game," he insisted. "It can't go on. He's the player who gets fouled the most and gets the most insults.
"I told the referee I was going to quit the game and he told me he had to carry on.
"With the red card, the whole stadium shouted Monkey, monkey, monkey.
"I'm so sad. He's a kid and he wants to move on, but in the current conditions it's very complicated."
On the red card
Vinicius was sent off for aggressive behavior during a collision with several Valencia players.
"The VAR guy invented an aggression," said Ancelotti.
"He's just trying to free himself. The player is sad because all he wants is to play.
"He's not angry. He is sad.
“For me, we should have stopped the game.
"It's not a person going crazy, it's a stadium going crazy.
"I've never seen an entire stadium commit racist behavior."
How does Vinicius feel?
The coach also acknowledges that Vinicius can learn and improve, and emphasizes that more needs to be done to protect him.
"Of course, like all young people, he has to progress," he admitted. "But when a stadium insults you, young people can't keep their cool.
"The team-mates and the club support him in everything."
