Man United could change their defense this summer as the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are discussed
Victor Lindelof's form could convince Erik ten Hag to keep him at Manchester United, as the defender will assess his future at the end of the season.
The Sweden international has been behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for most of the season. However, injury later allowed Lindelof to regain his place against Harry Maguire.
Lindelof has started United's last nine matches and they have kept five clean sheets in that span. His performances have been impressive and he may have given Ten Hag something to consider ahead of the summer transfer window. Lindelof has made it clear that he wants to play regularly. Earlier, he said he would meet the club to discuss his future at the end of the season after admitting he wanted to "play every game".
"Of course like all players you want to play every game and obviously I haven't done that this season," Lindelof said in March. But as I always say when I come here [on international duty], it is a pleasure to be here and I am always excited to represent my country.
"I'm really looking forward to the games we have and I spoke to [Sweden manager] Janne before saying I'm really looking forward to coming here and playing, and playing with you guys. . Like I said, I want to play, that's why I play football, I want to play games, but I haven't thought about that [moving away], right now I'm just focusing on the national team and then of course. the rest of the season with the club. Then in the summer we'll reassess and see what's best."
For now at least, Lindelof has achieved his wish for the first team and with the defender having impressed during his time in Erik ten Hag's squad, he may now have little more reason to reevaluate his future at Old Trafford.
