A photo of a dead Kumawu MP who was barred from entering the hall for the DCE election emerged
MP Philip Atta Basoah, the Kumawu Member of Parliament, who was buried this weekend in a proper burial,both because of his cultural and political significance.
Tomorrow, May 23, 2023; Thepeople of Kumawu will replace Basoah, their MP for ten years,after the high election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is ready to win as the main opposition National Congress Democrat, put in a strong statement. Just two nights after the polls were opened,NDC officials and activists intensified their campaign to make it clear that the NPP has wronged the people of Kumawu and the Ashanti region in general.
These people are insisting that the people of Kumawu must punish the NPP by voting for change and thus running fortheir position, Kwasi Amankwaa. A video to get their point across is one that captures the dead MP as thevenue for the local presidentialelection. As people were being let out of the building, the lawmaker was prevented from doing so by armed policedespite his protests and pleas for the Speaker. The NDCNational Communications Manager Sammy Gyamfi was among those who shared the video with the title “Akufo-Addo Bawumia Nuclear Power Plant Government's Atrocities towards the late Hon. Philip Basoah, MP for Kumawu.
“This is how the NPP government used the police to prevent the late Basoah from participating in the support of the DCE for his constituency. “But today Bawumia and the NPP are at his funeral cryingfake tears to buy votes.
"They ignored his administration to start road construction overnight after his death before Tuesday's general election."
Voters will elect a successor totheir MP, Philip Atta Basoah, who died on March 27 this year while still serving his thirdconsecutive term. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is represented by Ernest Yaw Anim, while Kwasi Amankwaa is the NDC candidate. Two independents by the name ofKwaku Duah were also included. Kumawu has been inpolitical turmoil for the pastweek with big wigs from the NDC and NPP marching in the polls to demand elections for the special seats.
The EC has issued a notice indicating that it is ready for Tuesday's vote.
