"We are jokers like Ghanaians?": How will Anas testify in a case where he is not involved? - Lawyer Kennedy Agyapong asked
Barrister Ralf Agyapong, thebrother and lawyer of Assin Central Constituency MPKenney Agyapong, has raised concerns about the background of investigative reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas who was granted witness status in Republic v. Kwesi Nyantakyi, former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
According to him, the absence of Anas from 'Number 12' exposes the wrong, which formed the basis of Nyantakyi's accusation, invalidating his statement as the first witness. In an interview with Okay FM on May 19, 2023, AttorneyAgyapong explained that a witness should have first-hand information or knowledge about the case at hand.
He confirmed that Anas was not in the said newspaper, questioning his character as a witness in the case. Agyapong expressed his confusion, asking why Anas would testify about a situation he was not present in.
“That number 13 or 12 that Anas showed, did you see Anas in the video? So when he comes to court, he comes to testify because... you see, a witness should have first handinformation or knowledge about the matter at hand... so Anas comes in court, he will come totestify where he is or where he is. is he standing? "If he wants to come to court... this is thestrategy that Kwesi's lawyer will use, because I am asking you (guest) that Anas Aremeyaw Anas, did you see him in the video? He is and said he was a key witness. he added to the key witness, are we as funny as Ghanaians? Let me tell you, the first day the matter came, I told you that Anas could not come to court, he could not, he was afraid.
Also, the lawyer criticized Anas for not wanting to testify when the "administrative" court wanted him to remove his veil and reveal his face to Nyantakyi in the room. He accused Anas of lack of courage and described him as "not human" for not coming and testifying.
"He is not a man, if he is a man, he will come to court... but they say that the chamber, so the chamber has something to do with the judge and Kwesi Nyantakyi, and their lawyers ,"he added. The issue between the Republic and Kwesi Nyantakyi has drawn attention since the release of Anas's book number 12, which reported oncorruption in Ghanaian football. Nyantakyi was caught on hidden camera, allegedly accepting bribes and doingother bad things. However,Anas Aremeyaw Anas has decided not to testify as a witness in the case following a recent ruling by the Accra High Court.
The court has allowed Anas to testify in open court with a veil, provided that he first reveals his face to the accused in court. The decision was announced in a statement from Tiger Eye PI,the research firm headed by Anas, which said it was concerned about the potential threat to his security.
