Erling Haaland cursed on live television during Manchester City's championship celebrations, and Manchester United supporters want him to be banned.
Following their victory over Chelsea on Sunday, City hoisted the Premier League trophy for a third consecutive season, with the team celebrating on the Etihad pitch.
In a Sky Sports interview with Jack Grealish, Haaland made headlines by turning to his teammate and saying, "I f****** love you, you know that?"
Grealish started laughing, however Sky employees didn't find the situation amusing and apologised for the obscenity. And United supporters, who were blatantly on the broadcaster's side, are now demanding that the 52-goal forward be punished.
However, there is a specific explanation behind that. After scoring a hat-trick against West Ham in 2011, United forward Wayne Rooney was given a two-game suspension for cursing at the camera.
He then missed the crucial FA Cup semifinal match versus City, which United lost 1-0 without their best player and City ultimately won by defeating Stoke.
The same punishment, which might result in Haaland missing the FA Cup final between City and United next month, has been demanded by United supporters.
One supporter said, "Assume the FA have improved their rules after they banned a United player for swearing on live TV, disqualifying him from an all-Manchester FA Cup match at Wembley."
Another person said, "Seen United fans attempting to get Haaland a ban for swearing on Sky yesterday. "At first I thought they were being foolish, but then I saw that Rooney had been suspended for the same offence. I wonder whether the Premier League and the FA will follow suit.
Recall when Rooney scored at West Ham and received a two-game suspension for profanity? Grealish always does that while he is being interviewed. Haaland accomplished it recently. If it were United, they would prosecute us.
Haaland has a history of using foul language in interviews; yet, with City aiming to win the treble, the forward faces the possibility of missing games.
Even though City still has two Premier League games left, the FA Cup final will come before the crucial Champions League final, so they will be keen for their star player to be ready for the last stretch.
