69 students who attended the Hotel, Catering, and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) and followed a variety of disciplines have graduated.
The graduates took classes in conference banqueting, front desk services, cooking, tour guiding, food and beverage services, housekeeping, event management, and restaurant management.
There were 32 students who graduated in November of the same year and 37 who graduated in May of 2022.
"Employment Through Tourism and Hospitality Training" was the topic of the graduation ceremony last Friday.
Mark Okraku-Mantey, the deputy minister of tourism, arts, and culture, urged the graduates to put customer service first in order to further their careers.
He believed that effective customer service was crucial to achieving client happiness.
The more your business is sustained, the more your revenue will increase, he added. "That is the only way you can sustain your business."
Mr. Okraku-Mantey advised graduates to treat clients the way they would like to be treated and emphasized the importance of making each service memorable.
"Unfortunately, there are certain people who will travel to your hotels and other locations and will return unhappy and obnoxious.
Therefore, be careful to handle consumers so that they won't have anything negative to say about you, he urged.
The graduates were advised by Mr. Okraku-Mantey to view providing excellent customer service as a requirement and an integral component of their enterprises.
Employability
Elsie Klufio, the HOTCATT's principal accountant, remarked that employability was crucial to the school's goal of preparing students effectively for the demands of the hospitality and tourist business.
Ms. Klufio claimed that HOTCATT had given the graduates the necessary real-world training to deepen their comprehension through hands-on learning.
Graduation undoubtedly ushers in a new era and brings an end to the previous one, but she assured the students that HOTCATT will always be their intellectual home.
Caleb Kofie, the National Executive Secretary of the Ghana Tourism Federation, cautioned the graduates to be aware of the attitude they adopted since it would have an impact on their future.
Therefore, he underlined the requirement for a shift in mentality with regard to providing excellent customer service, noting that "having a good attitude was the only way to get to the top and maintain your spots."
