Two babies died in hospital due to light out in Damongo

Two babies have died after a fire broke out at the Sainte-Anne Hospital under the Catholic Health Department in Damango in the Savanna region.

The hospital lost its electricitydue to a debt of GH¢4 million owed to the Northern Electricity Company (NEDCO). According to a Citinewsroom report, the two babies died due to the hospital's lack of blood transfusions, while the otherthree are in critical condition.

It was
also suspended due to fire. The head of media at the hospital's health care department, Dr. Gbeadese Ahmed explained that the babies died because the hospital could not get blood from the blood bank because of the lack of capacity, becausethe hospital could not bloodtest consistent with transfusion of the infants. .

“From the first time they disconnected us, we lost one child, the second time we lost another. As we speak, there is another person who is in a very serious condition and the reason is that we cannottransfuse him [blood]. It seems that almost every day we will have problems to overcome," said citinenewsroom.com andthe communications manager said. This will be the second time that the hospital has seen electricity cut off, on the 4th of May, the clinic was shut downbut was later restored due to the intervention of the Minister of Savanna Saeed Muhazu Jibril.

However, NEDCo warned that its members will end the hospital's union again on May 9 if the payment is not made.
