In Sekondi, in the Western Region, a program has been started to train 350 adolescents in various sectors of effort.
The participants in the project, which is funded by the European Union under the Twin Cities in Sustainable Partnership Project (TCSPP) and being carried out in the Italian cities of Palermo and Sekondi-Takoradi, are receiving training in aquaculture, bio-digester technology, crop production, animal husbandry, and recycling of plastic waste.
Objective
The training is intended to supplement the many interventions being made by the government and other partners to address the problem of youth unemployment in the city and across the nation.
Abdul Mumin Issah, the chief executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, announced the project's launch in Sekondi last Thursday.
Well-deserving learners would get post-training help through the program.
He declared that the trainees will receive assistance in starting social enterprises and building 500 biodigester toilets and 100 eco-friendly ovens for low-income coastal and fishing villages around the city.
He said that the training program's main goal was to increase the resilience of the city's most vulnerable residents because the government and other formal sector workers could not possibly hire all of the competent job seekers the nation had at their disposal.

Agriculture
According to Mr. Issah, the TCSPP's training in agricultural practices was developed in response to the rising demand for nutritious veggies brought on by the country's thriving hospitality sector and the general public's awareness of the benefits of eating produce from farms.
According to the MCE, the goal of green and climate-smart production methods is to combat the dangers of plastics, open defecation, health risks for fish processors, and environmental contamination from fish smoking.
Mr. Issah advised the trainees to embrace the program wholeheartedly, actively participate in it, and make use of the project's potential to learn skills and positively impact national development.
He reminded them that gaining post-training help will mostly depend on their performance in their particular attitudes or behaviors during the session.
Nana Kofi Amuna V, the Chief of Essipong, also challenged the attendees to take the training seriously and leave as better people overall.
He thanked the EU for its assistance and expressed the hope that it would further solidify Ghana's ties to Europe.
