Kumawu Election: Results Will Really Reflect People's Will -Benjamin Bano-Bio

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Benjamin Bano-Bio has assured delegates in Kumawu that there will be no election for Tuesday's election.

According to him, his outfit is ready and willing to convincethe delegates for a peaceful and fair election. "Security officersand election officials are providing good security, as we are doing. Everything we need to be brought to Kumawu—theballot papers—we have done all the packing. "We expectTuesday to start voting. But I want to assure everyone in the Electoral Commission that we know that we will ensure that the final results that will be announced in a fair way reflect the will of the voters, " he toldThe Probe on Sunday. He added that he was impressed by the aspirational behavior during their campaign.

Mr.
Bano-Bio explained that due to the above mentionedobservation, he is confident thatthe local elections will be peaceful. He also explained that he expects a high turnout.

The EC Ashanti regional chairman urged political parties and their candidates to bring efficient and effective electoral officers to the polling stations. He also advised the election officials to wait and watchduring the election.

“When the election closes,
they must keep the tally, then sign the declaration of results and take one. The announcement of the results at the polling station serves as the primary document for the declaration of results at all levels,” added Mr. Bano-Bio.

He also directed the election officials to send the results declaration form to their secretaries. “If they [electoral officials] are doing their job well, they will collect them and when they are done, they will goback to the collection point.

“If they do their collection properly, whatever numbersthe Electoral Commissioners come up with, they should be like them. Therefore, what they [political parties and politicians]need is a party or an effective electoral body.

The Kumawu election will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2023, from 7:00 am to 5:00 am.

According to the head of the region, voting will take place in 75 polling stations with less than 35,000 registered voters hoping to vote.
