THE BEST GOALKEEPERS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE RANKED ON SHOT-STOPPING ABILITY MAY SURPRISE SOME

This season's Premier League goalkeepers have been ranked based on the quality of their shots saved this season.

Football365 used the FBREF date to rank the Premier League's number one shot-stoppers using the PSxG model minus the number of allowed goals. Yes.

In short, the post-shot expected goal model calculates the probability that a goalkeeper has scored a shot and uses that number against the number of goals they actually concede in a season.

The higher the number, the better the goalkeeper's save rate. Or lucky...

Allison tops the list for Liverpool with an impressive 10.1 as the number of goals conceded has been deducted from PSxG, 0.9 ahead of Fulham's Bernd Leno, who has 9.2 and has finally paid off after leaving England to Arsenal.

David Raya, who has made the most saves in the league this season and is set to leave Brentford, is third at 4.6 while Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga (3.7) and Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez (3. 0) occupies the top five spots.

Followed by Jordan Pickford (2.7), Neto (1.7) and Crystal Palace duo Sam Johnstone (1.4) and Vicente Guaita (0.4) – players must have eight appearances to make the list.

Nick Pope is in the top 10 with 0.3, while West Ham's Lukasz Fabianski is the first player to score negative, with -0.1.

David De Gea is at -1.1, Jason Steele -1.7, Daniel Iversen -1.9 and Aaron Ramsdale -2.0, while Chelsea and Tottenham goalkeepers Edouard Mendy and Fraser Forster have only numbers -2.1 and -2.5. Further back are Keylor Navas (-2.7), Robert Sanchez (-2.8), Jose Sa (-3.6), Hugo Lloris (-4.1) and Dean Henderson (4.1), while , perhaps surprisingly, champion goalkeeper Ederson scored -5.1.

The last four goalkeepers on the list have all lost their place in the squad after starting the season as number one, with Bournemouth's Mark Travers scoring -6.9, Illan Meslier -12.4 and Gavin Bazunu -16. 6 is extremely low.

Of course, being a goalkeeper isn't just about saving shots. De Gea is 12th on the list but has won the Golden Glove, while Ederson is bottom of the table as he is close to winning the treble.

However, some goalkeepers need to return to the training ground and practice parrying their shots.
