Ibrahim Mahama, the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners Ghana Limited, and brother of former president His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has been crowned the Chief Executive Officer of the Year at Ghana's Mining and Engineering CEO of the Year at the 7th Ghana CEO summit 2023.
The special award ceremony took place today, Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra. The occasion saw the gathering of Chief Executive Officers of various companies in the country. The event also saw CEOs, both in the private and public sectors, who have distinguished themselves in various capacities in the course of the period under review presented with various awards.
Concerning Mr. Ibrahim Mahama,he was also recognized for inspiring business and economic transformation, contributing to the growth and development of mining and engineering sector businesses in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
The special guest of honor of the ceremony was the former president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. The former president presented the awards to both the private and public sector awardees on the night.
Ibrahim Mahama is a businessman and founder of Engineers and Planners, the largest indigenous-owned mining company in West Africa. He also has several companies among which include Dzata Cement.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama is considered one of the worthiest and most successful businessmen in the country. However, there was a section of Ghanaians who thought his fortune in business was acquired due to his relationship with John Dramani Mahama.
The businessman had legal battles with the ruling New Patriotic Party after they assume office in 2017, over a bauxite concession he acquired during the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration.
Ibrahim Mahama however rebuffed this claim in 2018 after his brother had left office that, he makes more money under the Nana Akuffo Addo-led government than he did when his brother, John Dramani Mahama was the vice-president and president of the country.
