Vinicius Junior's side are said to be looking for a way for the winger to leave Real Madrid after being racially abused during a recent match against Valencia in La Liga.

Sources close to the 22-year-old told ESPN Brasil that the possibility of a club move had been suggested by the player's camp.

The report states that "everyone who works with the player is very upset with Real Madrid's attitude" following the racial abuse the striker received from football fans over the weekend.

Following the devastating scenes that unfolded at Mestalla Stadium on Sunday, May 21, Vinicius himself took to social media to make a strong statement.

He said the abuse he suffered over the weekend "wasn't the first, not the second, not the third."

He continued:

“Racism is normal in La Liga. The competition thinks it's normal, so does the federation, and the competitors encourage it.

"The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi now belongs to the racists."

Elsewhere, Vinicius said he will continue to fight against racist comments, whether in Spain or in another league.

He added:

"I'm strong and I'll do whatever it takes to fight the racists. Even if it's far away from here.

While the Brazil international has not made it clear whether he wants to stay at Los Blancos, head coach Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that he remains loyal to his star. Advertisement

The 63-year-old told Movistar he was not interested in discussing football and instead wanted to condemn the La Liga bosses for their attitude towards racism.

I said:

“I am calm, but what happened today should not have happened.

"For a stadium to scream 'monkey' at a player and the manager to think of disqualifying him for that... There's something wrong with this league."

He continued to say:

"For me, Vinicius is one of the best players in the world. Racist episodes can't happen, it's the whole stadium - not just one person, like other times.

"It has to stop. And I would say the same if we win 3-0.

While the striker's side are clearly aiming to leave the league soon, Vinicius's contract technically only expires at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the star signed a contract extension.

However, after the events of this weekend, it is unknown if this will still happen.
