Manchester United could benefit from a confirmed point deduction against Juventus.

A big decision was made in Italy with Juventus being deducted 10 points. The Federal Court of Appeal upheld the decision on Monday night, Sky Sports reported.

Juventus was initially deducted 15 points, then revoked and now has 10 points deducted.

The sanction is the result of an investigation into Juventus' transfers. Sporting CP v Juventus:

Quarter-final second leg - UEFA Europa League

Over the weekend, Italian newspaper Tuttosport reported that Adrien Rabiot's future at Juventus may depend on the outcome of the court's ruling.

Rabiot's contract expires this summer and French newspaper L'Equipe have reported that United manager Erik ten Hag is in talks with the midfielder over a summer transfer.

Juventus have not given up on convincing him to stay, however, their task becomes much more difficult after that 10 point deduction.

The penalty sent Juventus down to 7th place in the Serie A table, defeat to Empoli last night was another blow.

Before that, they had held a place in the Champions League. When things settle down, mathematically they can't finish in the top 4 anymore.

Last summer, Manchester United negotiated Adrien Rabiot, and one of the reasons the transfer failed, aside from wages, was because of not being able to play in the Champions League. Juventus did just that last season, before finishing third in their table and qualifying for the Europa League.

Rabiot has shone through a poor season for Juventus, scoring the best 11 goals of his career from midfield.

As sports journalist David Ornstein pointed out via Five, Rabiot is probably the player Manchester United could turn to at the moment, despite the uncertainty of the takeover, as he will be on a free transfer. . A place in the top four would make it easier for Juventus to try to convince Rabiot to sign a new contract.

Now it's Manchester United's turn to take charge, just needing one point from two games to secure a place in next season's Champions League.

With Marcel Sabitzer expected to cost around £20m, Manchester United will likely see Rabiot as a cheaper alternative.
