Mauricio Pochettino already has Mason Mount replacement at Chelsea amid Arsenal and Liverpool transfer pursuit
There is speculation surrounding the future of Mason Mount at Chelsea, with reports suggesting that he could leave the club this summer. Should that happen, Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, may already have the ideal replacement in Cesare Casadei, a relatively unknown player who was signed by Chelsea last summer.
According to football.london, Liverpool has made Mount their priority signing for the upcoming transfer window as they look to revamp their midfield. The Reds are also said to be in pole position to secure the services of Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister. On the other hand, Arsenal's interest in Mount is more recent, with reports indicating that manager Mikel Arteta is keen on adding creativity to his midfield following the expected departure of Granit Xhaka.
Mount's form has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but it should be noted that Chelsea as a whole have faced challenging circumstances. Injuries to key players, including Mount himself, have hampered his progress, and under interim manager Frank Lampard, he has only managed to play 43 minutes across eight games. Losing Mount, especially to a rival club, would undoubtedly be a blow for Chelsea.
However, there might be a silver lining for Chelsea and Pochettino in the form of Cesare Casadei. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder was signed from Inter Milan last summer and subsequently sent on loan to Championship side Reading in January. He made 15 league appearances for the club, despite their relegation.
Currently, Casadei is representing Italy in the U20 World Cup in Argentina, alongside fellow Chelsea player Andrey Santos. In a recent match against Brazil, Casadei shone by scoring two goals and providing an assist in a 3-2 victory for Italy. Playing in an advanced midfield role, which is where Mount has excelled, Casadei showcased his potential as a possible replacement for the English international.
With significant hype surrounding the arrival of several young talents at Chelsea, it is easy to overlook the signing of Casadei. However, if Mount does leave the club, Casadei's return from loan could provide Chelsea and Pochettino with a promising solution to fill the void left by the departing midfielder. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds, but Casadei's performance in the U20 World Cup has certainly brought attention to his potential as a replacement for Mount.
