In order to hone their abilities and further their careers, almost 2,000 hospitality enthusiasts have been chosen for the National Training and Retraining Program in the hospitality and tourist industries.
The awardees will receive instruction from the Hotel, Catering, and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) in subjects such as food and beverage skills, restaurant management, conferencing, banqueting, event management, front desk duties, housekeeping, tour guiding, and culinary skills.
Under the Ghana COVID-19 Alleviation and Resuscitation of Enterprises Support (CARES) Obaatan Pa initiative, the project is a collaboration between the Ministries of Finance, Tourism, Employment, and Labour Relations and the Social Partnership Council.
Recovery
According to HOTCATT's Principal Accountant, Elsie Klufio, the organization understood the program's importance in determining the future of the industry, particularly while the globe was recuperating from the COVID-19 epidemic.
"It had a severe impact on this industry, which had an impact on the people whose livelihoods depended on it.
Travel restrictions, lockdowns, and other socially isolating measures were implemented in a place known for its bright energy and capacity to unite people, which led to a dramatic drop in income and extensive job losses.
"Many employees are still looking for opportunities to improve their skills so they can deal with the difficulties and problems they encounter.
Therefore, the training and retraining plan has arrived at the right time, according to the speaker.
competent instructors
The parties concerned were also praised by Ms. Klufio for enabling training for the hospitality and tourist sectors and for acknowledging the hardships of workers.
As service providers, our top priority is to make sure that every recipient receives training that is of the highest caliber, she added. "The government is footing the expense of tuition for all the beneficiaries.
Additionally, Ms. Klufio disclosed that a group of expert trainers with years of experience and the most recent industry insights had been created to guarantee that recipients received the most current and pertinent training.
