Kumawu: Pink paper 'has been signed, but EC says it's a mistake'

The
unexpected incident cameduring the ongoing election in Kumawu Constituency, afterallegations of pink slips signed by him appearing at polling stations.

At the polling station at Oyoko Methodist Primary School, reports say that a police officer was seen forcing police officersto put their signatures on a paper before the polls even started. Officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) suspect that he is playing tricks and have called for the process to be suspendeduntil the Regional Electoral Officer appears to clarify the issues.

But Ashanti EC regional headBenjamin Banor-Bio denied the allegation. He told the Daily Graphic what happened was a mistake by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the polling station and no one was forced to sign the papers.

The EC director explained that what happened this morning was related to the signatureprocess. Initially, employeeswere asked to sign the first partof the form and write their name on another form, signing against their name after the survey was completed.

"... when
the workers signed the first part, the president asked them to write their names in another form, [and] sign their names when the polls were closed," he said. - he declares. However, he said the BNP worker unknowingly kept entering his share after registering his name.

After bringing the matter before the EC, Mr Banor-Bio said that the committee is quickly issuing pink slips to the affected workers. "We immediately replaced them with pink sheets."

Mr.
Banor-Bio made it clearthat there are two differenttypes of pink slips that require the signature of every employeeat the polling station.

Before
the voting begins, the officials sign a part of the document confirming the number of votes cast in the station and the number of registered voters. Furthermore,he said that the officers also puttheir signatures on the form after the recitation process as proof of their presence during the recitation.
