Former Black Stars strikerAsamoah Gyan has revealed his dream is to see an African team win the FIFA World Cup one day.
Asamoah Gyan, who through his foundation and football league provides many opportunities for young talents, told GhanaWeb that his dream is to see one of his players win an African team. The Baby Jet U16 tournament, which will host African countries, aims to find talent for the African continent.
In his speech at the launch of the tournament which was attended by some former Black Stars players, Gyan said that this project could bring out talented Ghanaian national team members who now wantto expand to the African regionto help other countries. “In the last four years, we have selected players who are currently doing well in Europe, some of whom were part of the Ghana Under-20 team that won the African Youth Championship. So there is a long term plan for the next generation that will benefit not only Ghana but the whole of Africa,” he told GhanaWeb.
He added: “The goal is one dayto win the World Cup for Africa, that's why we spread it to our neighboring countries to come and play. When you have this strong foundation, it will benefit all of Africa.
According to him, for Africa to win the World Cup, the continent must have a plan.
He said: “Football is aboutdevelopment. You have to have a plan, if you want to win a cupin ten years, you have to have a plan. You don't just walk awayand win a trophy.
