Election: The people ofKumawu are electing a new Member of Parliament today
Elections are currently being held in Kumawu, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, in the election to vote for a new representative from the region.

The two political parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have made separate attemptsto divide the parliamentary seats.
The parliamentary candidates include: Akwasi Amankwaa alias "Tom Cee", from the NDC, Ernest Yaw Anim from the NPP,and two other independentsboth with the same name, Kwaku Duah. Yesterday, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare met the leaders of the two political parties before the election.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also asked supporters of the New Patriotic Party to come out in large numbers on Tuesday, May 23 to vote for the party'scandidate in Kumawu, Ernest Yaw Anim. In an interactionwith NPP supporters in Kumawu before the election,the vice president said that they want to show Ghana that Kumawu is an NPP constituency and that they are ready to hold the seat.
