Kilmarnock and Dundee United, two teams that are in danger of being demoted, have been informed by Steven MacLean that there is no prospect of St Johnstone taking it easy when they visit Ross County on Wednesday.

Although Saints can no longer finish in the bottom two spots of the easy Premiership, their interim manager is aware that Killie in 10th position and United in 12th place will have a stake in how the 11th-place Staggies perform.

In a game that might have a significant impact on how the relegation battle plays out, MacLean assures his team has no intention of letting up.

We have a responsibility to everyone, he continued. For the sake of our supporters, our club, and the other teams in the league, we want to go there and win.

We'll be heading up there with the intention of winning the game, like I try to do in every game.

Since taking over for Callum Davidson, MacLean has led Saints to safety with two victories and a draw in his four games.

He exclaimed, "I'm thrilled with the players. "I pushed them to stay up, and they did it with two games left, which is excellent. They have been excellent for me and have displayed a fantastic attitude. But we still have two games left, and we hope to win both of them. We're focusing on Ross County right now, and on Sunday, we'll handle the Livingston game.

Cammy Ballantyne, 23, who has spent the most of his senior career on loan at Montrose from the Perth club, has been challenged by MacLean to try to establish himself at Saints after the midfielder's maiden start against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

I was happy for him, MacLean remarked. "His performance, in my opinion, was fantastic. He has a lot of energy and shown some quality as well.I hope he can back it up if chosen to face Ross County. Now it's up to him. We gave him a chance to play on Saturday, and he made the most of it.

He must now go out and establish himself in order to become a regular on the first team.
