As they compete for promotion in Saturday's Sky Bet Championship play-off final against Coventry at Wembley, Rob Edwards warned Luton not to get too excited.
A victory over Coventry would complete Luton's fourth promotion in ten seasons as they aim for their first-ever Premier League promotion.
Before Saturday's all-or-nothing match, manager Edwards stressed the value of maintaining a practical mindset and refused to romanticize the club's history.
We all understand the importance of the game, so there's no use in keeping it quiet, said Edwards. "There's nothing wrong with dreaming and aiming for (promotion)," he added.
We can practically touch it right now. It's just one game, and we know we can do it.Making sure we are the best versions of ourselves and preparing as normally as we can is the only thing we need to do. We must exert the same level of effort and organization as normal, and if we nail the fundamentals, you have a chance.My duty is to make sure we focus on the things we can control and that we work as hard as always because if we get carried away, you have no chance in a game like this.
Edwards praised Coventry, who had the most Sky Bet clean sheets this season with 22.
There won't be too many surprises on the day, according to Edwards, who also added that his team can't just concentrate on Coventry's star players Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres. "We have a decent idea of them and they have a decent idea of us as well, we've looked at each other twice during the season and watched countless numbers of games as well," he said.
They have a few more talented players than simply those two, who are outstanding people.However, they have quality across the board and are really well-coached by Mark (Robins) and Adi (Viveash), so they have a very distinct style of play, which is beneficial over the course of a season.
