The Brazilian has reflected on his five years with the north London club as he prepares to play in his farewell match for Tottenham on Sunday.

Lucas Moura has reflected on several significant events from his time at Tottenham Hotspur, such as the spontaneous speech he gave this month to the team's U21s.

The 30-year-old will leave the team at the conclusion of this campaign after Spurs declined to exercise an option to extend his contract by another year at the end of the previous one. The Brazilian bid a tearful farewell on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will now travel to Leeds with the club on Sunday for his final game wearing a Spurs jersey.

Lucas has experienced some memorable experiences while wearing a Spurs jersey, not the least of which being the dramatic night in Amsterdam when he completed his hat-trick in the dying seconds to advance Tottenham to the next round.

I'll make an effort to communicate while controlling my tears. I can say that I am very, very grateful for the experience I had here over the course of these five years, as it was a pleasure to play here, he stated in an interview that appeared in Saturday's matchday program.

"That game versus Ajax is, without a doubt, the highlight of my career to date. Three goals, a semifinal, and the final goal with my left foot in the last seconds were incredible. I'm not sure how to describe this. This is the kind of moment we play for in football, and I will always remember it.

It was a fantastic 2018–19 season, and I believe I scored 10 Premier League goals. I've always maintained that I'm not a striker, a number nine, or a killer like Harry Kane, but I managed to score 10 goals in the Premier League, five goals in the Champions League, and of course that semi-final - it was amazing, brilliant, and my best season here in terms of goals - before winning the Champions League Final. I'll never forget the experiences I had during that season. In the future, I'll show the videos to my children. It was quite unique.
The tears started to flow as they were asked what it meant to have given so many Spurs supporters one of the finest experiences in recent memory.

He began by saying, "This question is very hard to answer," before turning to the audience. "I have loved every second of being here, every day. the members of my squad, the friends I've gained, and the spectators at our home games. It was a gift, and losing it will be terrible for me. Although I don't want to, I feel as though I gave everything on my final day here. It's special, if I could sum it up in one word.

After five years with you, I have no words to express my gratitude for your love and support. Just a little note of gratitude. I'll always remember you in my heart. You can be sure that every time I went on the field, I tried to make you happy because I love Spurs and it was an amazing experience to play for you. It was fantastic to play for you, and I did my best to always give it my all to show you how passionate I am about Spurs and football. I'm grateful. I'll continue to back you. I'll always be a Spurs fan.

Whether Lucas should have started that night instead of Harry Kane, who was returning from a two-month injury absence, has become one of the most heated topics of discussion among the supporters since that team's defeat to Liverpool in the final in Madrid.

Four years later, the Brazilian acknowledged, "That was a little bit of a mix of emotions." "Of course, I wanted to play and start the game, but I was so intent on succeeding that I didn't let anything bother me. Instead, when I entered the game, I gave it all I had to help the team win. Of course, I had a horrible feeling after it was all over.

wept a lot because I wanted to win so badly - of course, everyone wanted to win - but [not starting] didn't bother me.

"I'm really proud of that [runners-up] medal since not everyone has the chance to play in the Champions League Final. Even though we lost that game, I'm incredibly proud of the season we had because many people only aspire to play in the Champions League. I, however, was able to compete in the Champions League Final.

While many Spurs supporters will remember Lucas for his Champions League exploits, fewer will be aware of the impact he has had on the club's development side's young players this season. As an

He played with the U21s in four games as an overage player, scoring three goals, and traveling with them to Blackburn for one game to get experience on away days.

Despite winning their final match 1-0 against West Ham and Lucas playing the whole 90 minutes in an effort to aid them, the U21s were ultimately relegated as the second-bottom team in Premier League 2 after their season's final game.

After a few minutes of introspection on the floor in the locker room following the game, Lucas got up and addressed the upset kids while wearing his uniform. It's been explained

The former Brazil international spoke of his love for Spurs and pushed the young players to take advantage of their opportunity with the club in what the more experienced members of the audience described as one of the most moving speeches they had ever heard.

"I grew up as a man here at Spurs - I had my second son, I made more friends, and of course the experience to play with the U21s was good because it reminded me of the time that I was in Sao Paulo and I played with academy players," Lucas remarked following the game.

I had a great time playing with kids and attempting to be of assistance to them. The most important thing to me is to enjoy the game and watch the youngsters play because I am passionate about football. It doesn't matter the game or the competition.

It was great for me and really benefited me as well because I could tell they were a little excited to play with me. I've learned a lot here, and I'm now 30 years old. I have grown as a person and as a husband, father, and supporter of Spurs. I'm extremely appreciative of this.

Prior to Saturday's loss to Brentford, Lucas' previous two last Premier League matches had left him with bitter memories on Merseyside, including a red card at Everton and a missed ball that allowed Liverpool to score a tying goal.

The Brazilian acknowledges that he felt terrible after both, but he will remember the good things about his stay in north London.

"We all go through good and bad times in life and in football; the most important thing is to be mentally tough," he remarked. "I had a few injury issues this season, which prevented me from being as helpful to the squad as I would have liked.

were challenging. I was so anxious to help the squad and play again that I received a red card against Everton because I was so keen to demonstrate this and play with a lot of enthusiasm. The sensation was terrible. Terrible.

"Then, against Liverpool, I erred. I wanted to pass rather than clear the ball, but I made a poor choice, making things even more challenging. But since it's football, it didn't alter the other happy times I've experienced here, and I have much more to be happy about than sad about.
