Vinicius allegedly threatened to leave the field during the second half of Real Madrid's LaLiga match against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Sunday after hearing what were described as "monkey chants" from the fans. Following the incidents that took place during the First Division National League Championship game between Valencia CF and Real Madrid CF, the competition committee sanctioned Valencia CF with the partial closure of the Mestalla stadium for five matches, specifically the Mario Kempes south stand. It is accepted as established that during the aforementioned game, racist slurs were directed against Real Madrid CF player Vinicius, as recorded by the referee in his minutes, changing the regular flow of play and treating the offenses very seriously.

Valencia is also subject to a 45,000 euro (£39,000) economic penalties.

Valencia has ten business days in which to appeal a decision to the appeals committee.
