NPP has opened the way to destroy our country's ethics -Mustapha Gbande
The Deputy Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress, Mustapha Gbande, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party of leading the country down a moral path.
According to him, the so-called vote rigging that characterized the recent election in Kumawu is an insult to politics, democracy and community development. Speaking on JoyNews' PM Express, he said the NPP government has launched an apparent election rigging scheme to sabotage the entire electoral process in favorof their supporter, Ernest Anim.
“The NPP opened the way to destroy the moral values of our country. That, Aisha, the NPP government in this local election is involved in what we call vote buying, physical money for vote exchange. It is sad for democracy. You will see regional leaders, you will see NPP leaders, you will see elected officials, presidents handing out money for people to vote.
Mr. Gbande said that even though they are buying votesand incitement, the NPP managed to increase the number of regional votes by a small margin, compared to the NDC which is better.
He said that the slight increase in the NPP was due to lack of interest in the elections because the ruling government did not develop the people of Kumawu. “Despite that, Aisha, you know that the only margin increase for the NPP between the 2020 parliamentary elections and today is about 250. This is the only increase they made while we in the NDC increased the vote we receivedin 2020. from more than 1,500. Obviously, this is an increase of about 8.5% and they have achieved a very small increase.
“Also, if you look at the apathy of the voters against thegovernment, even the money they share, their machine hasmoved to Kumawu area, which is very dangerous for our movement in this area in front of the people all vote. Against them, they should be very worried.
For this reason, Mustapha Gbande said that the NDC,despite their defeat, was happyand satisfied with their achievements in the local elections. He added that it also shows that the NPP has no message for Ghanaians in 2024.
“We in the NDC are very happythat we fought hard, especially since Kumawu is a strong base,I say, it has been the backslidingof the NPP since 1992 that they have chosen elections that have not shown anything. . "They don't have any information,they don't have any campaign, except that the government is supported and supported by the president Nana Addo who has engaged in the dirtypolitical act of buying votes."
