The IMF that does not plan anti-corruption is not good - Prof. Gympo

Lecturer in Political Science,
University of Ghana, Prof Ransford Gyampo

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Scienceat the University of Ghana has expressed disappointment at the position of the IMF for Ghana regarding the approval of the $3 billion loan. Accordingto Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo, Ghana is a verycorrupt country and the agencyhas not given any help to control leakages and crime. Mr.Gyampo feels that the IMF which no longer cares about stopping corruption in the country cannot be taken seriously.

"In fact,
in the fight against corruption, the issue that continues with the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) which is only in name from the document, shows that the IMF is not maybe not a big company anymore."

"That's because there doesn't seem to be
a serious effort to implement NACAP and the IMF doesn't know it's bad," he said. He also showed that the current IMF has stopped being bold and confident unlike in the past and believes that the IMF has recently been encouraging Africa to depend on the West.

"If not,
how and why so simple, strong advice will help us change things that are quickly ignored?" Doesn't the IMF know that we only get 5% of theroyalties on our gold?

“Is the IMF not aware that we produce oil and we only get 13% of the oil revenue? Why don'tthey talk about taxing the revenue generating sector effectively to get more moneyfor ourselves? »

"Why are
they silent on what we need to do to stop the illegalfinancial system? They come from countries where too much bureaucracy hurts like ours? Were they forced to remain silent on national and international calls for our government to be cut? Mr. Gympo asked.

He continued that if the situation does not answer the above questions, they are justpropaganda and only to cause trouble to the poor. “MakeAfricans depend on the West; and covers the lack ofleadership and unwillingness to sacrifice,” he lamented.

He later warned thegovernment that Labor would resist any unnecessary hardshipof the poor without a clear demonstration of sacrifice fromthe political leaders. "The IMF should know that Ghanaians know enough to know when the dependency process is going onand we will resist soon."

"If
the IMF really wants to help us, then it must be bold in telling us the truth so that we can remove ourselves from the problems that are imposed on us," he said.
