Justice is in limbo as JUSAG declares an indefinite strike

The administration of justice
in the country has come to a standstill as the Judiciary Unionof Ghana (JUSAG) says it will go on strike indefinitely because the government has failed to address their grievances fortheir salary.

Earlier
this month, JUSAGthreatened to lay down its tools if the government did not accept the salary plan approved by its new judicial council on salaries. They accused the National Labor Commission of abusing the government because the party members had earlier called on them to resolve the issue, but the situation remains unresolved.

Announcing
the strike at a smallceremony at the court complex, JUSAG President Samuel Afotey Otu, together with his leaders, said they had "suffered enough" and called on all JUSAG workers to stay at home until further notice. “You would like to know that the court, apart from its primary role of settling disputes, interpreting and enforcing the laws of Ghana, also generates a lot of money for the state.

“In
the last 10 years, we have raised more than GHC2 billion through fines, fines, etc. in the state. Unfortunately, we have not got what we want,” saidSamuel Otu Afotey. “Thecurrent salary assessment thatwe are asking the President to approve and pay us does not only affect the administrative staff of the project.

“Directors are a part, district judges are a part and circuit court judges are a part. All these people who are serving the third arm of the government have received this abuse fromthe government,” said Afotey Otu.

“We have suffered enough. We can't take it anymore. An empty bag does not stand up. The JUSAG National Executive Council, together with the Ladies Association of Ghana (JUSAG), Senior Staff Association (SSAJUG), Chauffeurs Association, Finance Staff Association and all stakeholders, announces that there will be a suspension of work, " said. JUSAG. .

He said: “Through thedeclaration of employment in this job, all those working immediately are requested not to report for work from today unless and until the President of Ghana complies with the 149 of the law by confirming and paying our new monthly duesfrom January to date. . People with problems

All employees should also know these things

Security men
and women must be on post, but ensure that all the entrances to the court and other offices are closed to prevent entry into the court or any work premises.

All motorists are asked to return their government-owned vehicles to the Department of Transport. No driver shall drive a company caror a police officer or judge during a break.

No court clerk shall open or compel the opening of recordsor court records for use during a strike. Members of the JUSAGExecutive Council and Committee must be present

monitoring
 to ensure compliance.

If a department employeereceives threats from an administrative officer to work for a job or perform official duties during a crisis, they should question and report the matter to JUSAG. Do not allow anyone in authority or management to illegally coerce or threaten employees during their work. If any member is unfair in this process, we will consider it as all members are oppressed. So we have to answer one thing.

Requests are made to the heads
of the association of judges and lawyers

to participate in its work since most of their members (that is, judges and circuit judges) are also affected by the injustice and suffering we are experiencing. JUSAG would liketo thank the other employeesfor their hard work, dedication, sacrifice and patience. Let's go home, come back when our needs are fulfilled.
