A resident is demanding a new transformer and has threatened to stage ademonstration in Denkyira Atobiase

Atobiase in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region requested the government through the energy company to supply new electric generators to improve electricity in the area.

They said that the people of the village are experiencing little electricity and completedarkness due to the lack of reliable electricity. They lamented, "We need a new generator to get electricity in our country. In the 21st century, we have to beg for electricity?"

The people of the city recordedvarious power outages, blackouts and other relateddaily activities, especially businesses in the area. Supply of transformer is important because the country is growing rapidly and the demand for electricity is for commercial purposes.

They alleged that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) hasrefused to repair or replace their main transformer thatcaught fire a year ago. In an interview with Ghanaweb, a resident of the area, Kwame Appiah, said that many of their electrical appliances weredestroyed due to the situation.

Describing this situation as depressing and unhealthy, he said that the villagers have accepted this for a year and they cannot take it back and soon they will flee from streetsto show their anger towards theauthorities if the situation is not resolved. . He appealed to the ECG to come to their aid and help them solve the problems that the community is currently facing.

Thomas Oppong, a member ofthe Unity Committee, said that letters and reports to the Assembly and other organizations did not produce results, and it is necessary to continue to appeal to them. Hesaid that this situation hasresulted in nurses and teachers refusing to work. Oppong revealed that workers will fleeif they find that there is no electricity in the village. He said, "Many government officials assigned to serve the community packed their bags or ran away after seeing the problem."

He added that thieves have taken advantage of their plightto promote their activities because the country is facing complete darkness. DenkyiraAtobiase has more than 600 villages where most of the residents work in agriculture.
