Little reacts to the IMF's statement on the 'poor implementation' of the freeSHS

A minority
in Parliament says they are very interested in the statement by the International Monetary Fund, IMF, regardingthe implementation of the freeSHS program in Ghana.

In a statement, the minoritysaid they want to record that since 2017 when the programwas established, he warned thegovernment to move slowly so that the introduction of this appropriate system would be useful and beneficial to Ghanaians. However, this was not heard and was interpretedas propaganda. The minority reiterated it in 2019, calling on the government to review the policy, but the request was misinterpreted as a repeal. The minority areas that former President John Dramani Mahama has identified for investigation are specifically identified by the IMF, the statement added.

This includes
targeting disadvantaged high schoolstudents who need help. Thestatement mentioned infrastructure as a majorchallenge in secondary schools, saying that the policy needs tobe reviewed to ensure that thebeneficiaries get the full benefit from it.

The group is asking thegovernment to release funds to secondary school principals as soon as possible so that they can properly organize their schools. Also, the current SHS system will be reviewed so thatthe freshers who came out in February this year and go on Easter vacation are still at home.

It is a small belief that thegovernment will pay attentionto what the IMF said and give future leaders the proper training.
