I was wrong; The NDC won more than three votes in all polling stations in Kumawu
South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP) Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has dismissed his criticism of the leaders of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region.
In a tweet that was shared on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, after the results of the Kumawu election started coming in, Dafeamekpor lamented the number of votes the NDC was getting in the election. According to him, the results from some polling stations show that some leaders of the Democratic National Congress have not voted for a politician.
“Kumawu's results came in quickly and quickly. I am part of the Ashanti Reg 2022 restructuring project, but these votes from Kumawu show that we need to re-examine our branch registers.
“We have 9 leaders, but we have 3 and 4 votes in some sectors, so where are our 9 NDC leaders? part of the representatives tweet said. Inanother tweet shared on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the MP apologized and said he did not get the numbers.
“This is to show that in Kumawu we did not register 3 or 4 votes as I indicated earlier. I apologize for that, but the number is still small and in place for the great effort put into it," read part of the tweet.
However, he said the results of the Kumawu election showedthat the NDC still has work to do if it is to win the 2024 general election. "It means thatwe all have to work hard as PC leaders if we want to win 2024," added Dafeamekpor.
Meanwhile, Ernest Yaw Anim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the May 23 local electionsin the Kumawu area of theAshanti region. He won 71%(15,264 votes) of the total votes cast to retain the ruling party seat. The Democratic National Congress candidate, Akwasi Amakwaa, who won only 17%(3,783) of the votes, trailed behind.
