Our history tour sent us to the upper east region of Ghana in the Kusaug Traditional area .

??? ??????? ??? ????? ????u(Bawku)

Episode 1

We will deal with this substantiated history in headings for educational purposes and to help readers understand it.

????? ????

Many of the so-called Bawku Mamprusis write-ups claim that they founded Bawku. They also made claims in the media, such as on social media, TV, radio, and in many of their write-ups.

???? ?????

In the run-up to the Bawku conflict, the so-called Bawku Mamprusis used a variety of tactics to misinform and mislead their gullible and uninformed followers into believing that whatever they said was true or could become true with time.

They chose what they thought would help their arguments, especially when both languages share the same, similar, or otherwise words.

One of these names is Bawku, which the lost Mamprusis claimed was founded and named by their ancestors.

The claim of Bawku Mamprusis is completely false. There isn't a shred of truth in any of these claims, including whether they founded and named our beloved town.

???????????

1. The Mamprusis' claims that they founded and named Bawk, as it was originally known are demonstrably false and inaccurate.

2. They purposefully told this lie and repeated it in accordance with the Goebellian principle. That is, tell a big lie and keep repeating it until it becomes true.

3. It is not surprising, then, that this propaganda appears on any piece written by the settler Mamprusis.

4. One such shaky claim is that their forefathers saw Bawk as a valley from the Gambaga escarpment and named it Bawku. This cannot be true, as it cannot be supported by any logical, scientific, or historical evidence.

5. It is common knowledge that when viewing the basement of any mountain from the top, everything around it appears lower, and Bawk is no exception.

6. Once again, the ordinary eye could not have been able to see Bawk from a distance of about 70 kilometers.

There are numerous scientific questions that need to be addressed, but that will have to wait for another day.

??? ???????, ??? ????? & ??? ?????

For the record, Bawk (literally means "valley") was founded and named by the BAWKZUA Kusaas clan. Bawkzua, which means "friend of the valley”, was named by WINNAM, the founder of Bawk and that of the clan.

WINNAM lived with his four children, namely Asamzuod, Akuur, Along, and a daughter, near the present-day WINNAMZUA school prior to the seventeenth. It is worth noting that several centuries after his death, the said school, which was the first of its kind within the Kusasi district was built and named after him in 1935 by the colonialists. WINNAM is regarded as the greatest shrine of the Bawkzua clan. It must be emphasized that the name Bawk predated the arrival of Ali and his entourage as it was commonly used by the indigenous people long before the arrival of the mamprusis.

During his time, the area was a valley, and anyone who approached him to settle, he told them to go a long way because he has found comfort in the valley. He farmed, engaged in game, and raised a family while there. He also pacified the gods, as tradition demanded, and passed this practice down to his sons.

It should be stated unequivocally that the original name is Bawk (pronounced B?K), not Bawku. The second pronunciation is an anglicized version of the first. The clan name is Bawk-zua (singular), and the people are known as Bawk-zuos (plural). Simply put Bawk is the clan territories, Bawkzuos the people.

Bawk-zua simply means "friends of the valley area," referring to their great grandfather's discovery of the valley. According to JKG SYME, Bawk was originally limited to the Bawkzua community, among others but as development progressed, it spread far and wide and the name eventually was adopted for it environs.

The claim of the Mamprusis that they named and formed Bawku is neither here nor there. Historians and Anthropologies alike confirmed the fact that the Mamprusis came and met Bawkzuos, Tinsungu people among others, already inhabiting the area known as Bok ( valley)
