Kumawu polls: Police are professionals - Yamin praises Dampare

The National Coordinator of the main opposition NDC, Joseph Yamin, has praised the Director General of Police, Dr.George Akuffo Dampare for fulfilling his promise on the issue of security in the Kumawu election.

According to him, the IGP on the eve of the Kumawu election gave a promise in a meeting that no other security agencies will intervene in the election as ithas done in other elections. “Letme first thank the police for their professionalism. Duringthe election, my party knew that I did not believe that we should put our hopes in the police. Even in the meeting with them before the election, I did not listen. In the meeting I asked the IGP what would be the involvement of the military in the election as in previous local elections like Ayawaso and other places and he assured us that he has enough men and weapons in Kumawu, so and he will not do it. need any other security company and true to his word he gave that. “We don't see the army or the civilsecurity in Kumawu, it is completely handled by the police, so today it would be wrong for me not to thank the IGP. He expressed that indeed,he wants the police to be the best institution in Ghana.

He said this on Wednesday in an interview with Kumasi basedHello Fm.

Meanwhile, New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician Ernest Yaw Annim won the Kumawu election with more than 70% of the votes cast. The ElectionCommission (EC) collated the election and announced onWednesday evening that Ernest Yaw Annim won with 15,264 votes, representing 70.91%.
