My landslide victory shows thatthe NPP is ready to break 8 -Ernest Yaw Anim says

Ernest Yaw Anim Kumawu elected MP
MP-elect
 for Kumawu, Ernest Yaw Anim

The Kumawu lawmaker said his landslide victory in the local elections showed that his party, the New Patriotic Party, is poised to win an unprecedented third term in power.

Speaking to the media after the election results were announced, Ernest Yaw Anim said his victory shows that the NPP can achieve anything inunity. He added that his victory testifies to the good work of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government.

"My
victory is proof that unity can change everything. The unity I brought resulted in whatwe see today. The number of votes I got was very important. It was a huge victory - more than 71% of the votes werecast.

"I
said earlier that the progressof the NPP government and the good work it is doing for the people of Ghana will win us this election. I know NPP is goingfor a big win.

“Every
Ghanaian has accepted that the NPP is the only party that can lead the country to the promised land; the NPP is the only party that delivers on its promises. We said we will fix the roads in Kumawu, but today it means everyone," he told reporters in Twi.

"...this
victory is also a sign that 'breaking the eight series' is possible. It is a clear statement that the NPP is ready to break the eight,” he added.

Ernest Yaw Anim won 71%(15,264 votes) of the total votes cast to retain the ruling party seat. The Democratic National Congress candidate, Akwasi Amakwaa, who won only 17%(3,783) of the votes, trailed behind.

The appointment was madeafter the Kumawu seat was declared vacant following the death of the MP in charge of elections, Philip Basoah.
