Liverpool asked about Kylian Mbappe last summer, it was claimed.
Last night L'Equipe announced that Paris Saint-Germain star Mbappe has no intention of triggering the one-year extension clause in the special contract he signed a year ago.
The Paris-born star is said to have signed a three-year contract ahead of the 2022-2023 campaign, but according to the source, it's actually a two-year deal with the option of a one-season extension.
Mbappe is said to be unwilling to accept the option of extending a season at PSG and, conversely, will enter the final 12 months of his contract when the current season ends.

PSG will once again have to decide whether they try to extend Mbappe's contract or sell him to avoid losing the star on a free transfer next summer. PSG also found themselves in a similar situation in 2021, when Real Madrid submitted an offer of £154m for the Ligue 1 top scorer, but was later turned down.
However, Los Blancos could be looking to sign the Frenchman for free next summer as the 24-year-old looks to terminate his contract at the Parc des Princes.

Liverpool asked about Mbappe
Another club that may be interested in signing Mbappe is Liverpool.
L'Equipe has claimed that Jurgen Klopp's side have explored the possibility of signing the France captain at the start of the season.
However, the paper added that the Red Devils will struggle to secure a deal given Mbappe's massive €6m (£5.2m) monthly salary. Advertisement
This salary is five times what Mohamed Salah earned after signing a separate contract last summer.
The Merseyside club are longtime fans of the 24-year-old.
Before moving from Monaco to PSG in 2017, Mbappe had talks with Liverpool, his mother's favorite team.
"We talked a little bit, but not too much," Mbappe said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. “I spoke to Liverpool because it is my mother's favorite club, my mother loves Liverpool. I don't know why, you'll have to ask him.

"They are a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco, I met them. They are a great club. Of course, it was the last game between Real Madrid. and Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool rivals Manchester United have also asked about Mbappe in the past.
