Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag refused to answer a question regarding the speculation linking the Brazilian with a move to Old Trafford.

This week, the French newspaper L'Equipe reported that United had begun negotiations with PSG and that Casemiro had been attempting to convince his international teammate to transfer to United.

When ambitious French giants PSG successfully exercised Neymar's buyout clause at Camp Nou in 2017, he transferred from Barcelona to PSG in a €222 million trade that set a record. He has two more years left on his current deal with Parc des Prince, which was signed in 2021.

Manchester United is one of the clubs that intermediaries have reportedly contacted to inform them of Neymar's prospective availability, according to a source.

But when approached for comment, Ten Hag opted to provide a generalized response.

"When we have news, we will tell you," the Dutchman said.

This week, a number of fresh media outlets reported that United are aware of Neymar's predicament but have no immediate interest in the 31-year-old.

In contrast to Neymar, United is considering adding two center strikers this summer. High-profile candidates include Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Lautaro Martinez, and Dusan Vlahovic. Rasmus Hojlund, Santiago Gimenez, and Goncalo Ramos are three players that are younger and could yet develop as the second option. Scouts have also recommended Benjamin Sesko and Mohammed Kudus.

The PSG administration has been exploring the prospect of releasing the player, a source disclosed last summer. Around that time, PSG's club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi issued the following warning: "We don't want flashy, bling-bling anymore, it's the end of the glitter."

As a result, last summer, intermediaries informed Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester City, Manchester United, and the newly wealthy about Neymar's possible availability. PSG was still debating if it was wise for them to sell the Brazilian before of the World Cup.

Neymar was reportedly offered to several Premier League clubs through middlemen in February of this year, informing Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Liverpool of the player's interest in relocating to England and his prospective availability.

A trustworthy source was able to confirm that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Newcastle's principal owner, is considering bringing Neymar to the Premier League as of the beginning of May. Prior to the decision that the 38-year-old would not be the ideal match for the present roster that has been put together, PIF had also expressed interest in Cristiano Ronaldo. But given Newcastle's need for a left-sided forward and the small number of other Brazilians presently present in Tyneside, Neymar might be.
