The government's
spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has revealed the largest political party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress, as its counter has increased in terms of votes for its parliamentary candidate in 'time for local elections. . in Kumawu region and Ashanti region.

“The work of
the NDC did notsurprise me much. They went to the stage to support their candidate. Their flag bearer and the party chairman is for the reason that the MPs in powerwho are not from the area is the reason why they support their candidates. "The NDC hasclearly increased in terms of voting. Even in the eastern region they are closing the gap,"he said. Ernest Anim of the New Patriotic Party won the Kumawu local election, obtaining more than 15,000 votes, which is 70.91% of the total votes cast, against Kwesi Amankwaa of the NDC, who won 3 719 votes, or 17.28 %.The results showed that the NDC doubled its votes in the election compared to the votes they got in the 2020 general election. Speaking at the NDC's work in Kumawu, the government spokesperson for governance and security said it was not surprising to see how they worked on campaign days. Mr.Boakye-Danquah reiterated that although the NDC is filling the void in the NPP strongholds, the power of the NPP is still there, therefore he urges the NDC to make more gains in these areas .

He further debunked claims that the government has started building roads in Kumawu because of the by-elections, saying that there had already been major development projects going onin Kumawu area long ago, the death of their former lawmaker. , Philip Basoah. . He added that the road seen in Kumawu is planned to be built and it will be possible even if the local elections are not held.

“I am aware of the development work done in Kumawu. The construction of the road is very timely,” he added.
