Kumawu by-election: NDC gets good results despite NPP vote-buying - Mahama

Former president and presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama said that although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was buying votes in the local elections in Kumawu area, the NDC did well.

He said that the significant increase in the number of votes obtained by the NDC in the local elections, compared to the votes obtained in the 2020 parliamentary elections, showshow successful the work of the NDC has been. He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Kumawu for the welcome they gave him when he went there to run for officeand praised them for the peace they had before the election, during and after the election.

Congratulations to the people of Kumawu for the peaceful conduct of the local elections on Tuesday. Of course, I cannot forget the people's happinessand enthusiasm that was shownwhen I led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates to campaign for our representative, Kwasi Amankwah. I am very grateful. This enthusiasm was rightlydemonstrated by the increasein the number of votes we received in the election - 1,284 actual votes representing a 52.6% increase over our 2020 performance.

This
is important, especially in the face of the deliberate vote-buying by the NPP, even at the polling stations, and the fraud that is being done to the poor, and frankly in the area. remains the stronghold of the NPP." . in a post-election statement. The election to be held on May 23, 2023 is NPP candidate Ernest Yaw Anim with more than 70% of valid votes.

Kudos
to the people of Kumawu for the peace process that took place in the local elections on Tuesday. Of course, I cannot forget the people's happinessand enthusiasm that was shownwhen I led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates to campaign for our representative, Kwasi Amankwah. I am very grateful. This enthusiasm was rightly shown by the increase in the number of votes we received in the election - 1,284 actual votes representing a 52.6% increase over our 2020 performance.

This
is remarkable, especially in the face of the NPP's vote buying, even in polling stations and the fraud of people who have roads, and the fact that the area is becoming a place theNPP is strong. The election result is a great sign from the good people of Kumawu.

Judging from the results, the ruling NPP has clearly seen a reduction in the number ofvotes in its stronghold, and to me that is a great sign from the good people of Kumawu. . Wemay not have succeeded in breaking the siege, but I am proud that as a group, led by our President and Secretary General, we had the opportunity to test our revisedelectoral process. , including monitoring, selection of representatives and training. , collection and transmission of results.

I would like to thank the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and his men and women for their assistance in makingthe election a success. The behavior of the police gives us confidence for the future that they will continue to show true support to the state and not to any political party.

In
the Election Commission, you are reminded once again that reliable elections depend on the people you employ and elect as presidents and other officials as per working with representatives and political representatives. Most of the violations mentioned should not have happened. Our monitoring team who have seen these violations detected early will be keen to step up to ensure these issues are properly addressed and rectified before any further elections. Thanks to the branches, departments, regions, regions, national and many members of our party in Kumawu who helped in various ways to promote the results ofthis election.

Greetings,
Kwasi Amankwah. You can count on the party for the best support to boost the NDC's gains in the 2024 general elections.

All in all, Kumawu has been good for us, we should apply thelessons we have learned quicklyeven as we go into the Assin North election. Finally, I thankthe elected member of parliament, Ernest Ayim.
