Jose Mourinho took aim at Tottenham Hotspur by revealing they were the only club he had no close connection with.
Mourinho has held nine different management positions during his stellar coaching career, including three in England and Portugal, two in Italy and Portugal and one in Spain.
He is currently enjoying his time in Rome, where he has led to consecutive European finals. Roma will be in the Europa League final against Sevilla on May 31, having won the Europa Conference League by beating Feyenoord last season and Mourinho becoming a three-time champion in the process.
But in a recent press conference, the former Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager made it clear that he doesn't think too much about Spurs. Advertisement
Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs and was at the helm for 17 months before being sacked shortly before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City in 2021.
Ryan Mason takes the reins temporarily and that means Mourinho has left a club without winning a major trophy for the first time in his career.
And the Portuguese coach admits he has no close connection to the Spurs, largely because there were no fans around during his tenure.

"I have established great relationships with all the clubs I have coached," said Mourinho, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
“They laughed at me when I said I was a fan of Real, Inter and Roma. "When I leave Giallorossi, it will be very difficult. The only team I don't have that relationship with is Tottenham.

"I hope my words will not be misinterpreted by the Tottenham fans but this is the only club with which I do not have a close connection.
"Probably because the stadium was empty in the age of Covid and because President Levy didn't give too much."

Spurs have had two permanent coaches since Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, but Mason is once again in charge temporarily.

They were looking for their next coach but were dealt a blow when Arne Slot kicked herself out of the run.
