Southampton and Manchester City have suffered heavy losses due to the lack of seats in their stadiums throughout the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

After a poor season under Ralph Hasenhüttl and Ruben Selles, Southampton were relegated from the Premier League for the first time since the 2004/05 season on 14 May following a 0-2 loss to Fulham.

Their poor performance on the pitch, which has earned them a spot in the bottom three since November, has also resonated throughout the fan base as their support begins to falter due to lack of ambition, direction and performance on the pitch.

According to analysis by Pendle Sportswear, taking the average attendance figures for the 2022/23 campaign at each stadium and multiplying the adult ticket price by the average number of seats, no Premier League team has lost revenue. more due to unsold tickets on the game day than the Saints.

The results showed the Selles team missed out on revenue of more than £76,000 per home game, adding to a loss of £1.4m for the full season. Pep Guardiola's Manchester side are next on the list, losing more than £62,000 per home game at the Etihad Stadium, resulting in a total loss for the season of around £1.2m.

A number that may come as a surprise as their side have won their third consecutive Premier League title and won other competitions such as the FA Cup and Champions League.

Carlo Ancelotti looks set to continue as Real Madrid manager despite the club's disappointing campaign. Winning the Copa del Rey is an important achievement as it is a tournament where Los Blancos have failed in recent years. But they failed spectacularly in their quest to retain the La Liga title. Two more games to go, even second place is still far away. On the other hand, being knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City is also a big blow. Overall, this season will not be a successful experience for fans. But most people would agree that Ancelotti didn't have a good hand. This team may have a lot of quality players, but they seriously lack depth.

All signs show that Ancelotti continues to sit in the hot seat of Real Madrid. However, his contract expires in the summer of 2024. And the club should keep an eye on a potential successor.

Xabi Alonso is someone who has been linked with Real Madrid's work, amid his impressive run at Bayer Leverkusen. And there is good news in this regard.

Real Madrid legend wants to replace Ancelotti

As reported by RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Alonso. But the will of the Spaniard is to take over from Ancelotti at Real Madrid when the Italian strategist leaves his position. Alonso spent time managing at the youth level at Real Madrid and at the development level for Real Sociedad. Many feared that his move to Bayer Leverkusen came too soon, but it turned out to be a huge success.

Alonso led them to sixth in the Bundesliga when it looked like they would struggle to avoid relegation when the Spaniard arrived. They also reached the semi-finals of the Europa League but were eliminated by AS Roma.
