A Polytechnic student killed himself after losing money withhis roommate in gambling

A student of the Federal Polytechnic School, Ilaro (FPI) committed suicide after he went missing with his and his roommate's tuition fees online.

The
deceased was said to havelost his tuition money with his friend due to online betting on Friday after the school issued a warning that no student will be allowed to appear for the examwithout registration . To avoid any embarrassment, the young man would have taken the striker a few minutes to the teston Monday, May 22.

He was taken to the school hospital for first aid and sent to a specialist hospital where he was pronounced dead. ThePublic Relations Officer of the school, Sola Abiala, confirmed that this happened, saying: 'Itwas discovered at the specialist hospital that the dead student had been drinking snipper.

"His
father told the school that his son played the last game with his school book, but he had to save it by paying another fee."

Abiala also said that the deceased was a person who was known to gamble with his school fees and did not commit suicide. “We have a policy here that any student who does not pay school fees will not take the exam.

“He realized that he and his friend would not pass the test, so he killed himself. “We sent for his parents and informedthem. His father told us that his late son did the same thing last session and had to send him some money to pay the fees. "He said that if he knew about the last one he would pay for it.

"But
when we asked his father to take over the body, he refused and said that he cannot bring his son's body home. Heasked us to bury him. The school paid part of the funeral expenses and paid the rest of the student's money for the play to prevent another tragedy. And we don't want him to kill himself.

"We're
surprised he didn't leave a suicide note. We didn't see any notes. We went to his house and looked for a note, but there was no note other than the bottle of the snipper he drank.

Many young people see online gambling as a quick source of income and sometimes take high risks in hopes of makingmore money. When they win, some of them become depressed and suicidal.
