Before the Man City vs Brighton game took place last year at the Waterside Stadium, the Brighton players were all lining up for the Man City players, but I don't think they have to.

The reason that I think the Brighton players shouldn't have lined up for Man City last night is because; they are at home, not Etihad.

Brighton should be playing at home is enough reason for the Seagulls not to make a barrier of honor for the defending champion, moreover, they also received defense from Chelsea last Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United have been dealt a heavy blow as one of their targets is more likely to join La Liga this summer instead of the Premier League.

It's no secret that Erik ten Hag is aggressively looking for a striker over the next few months. United are unlikely to sign Wout Weghorst as he has struggled to find plenty of scoring form.

Elsewhere, Anthony Martial will leave the club this summer and so Ten Hag needs some other attacking options.

Names like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have been linked, although their signings will be costly. Man Utd have also explored the free agency market and, along with Chelsea, have been linked with Marcus Thuram.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach striker is expected to leave the German club this summer when his contract expires.

With Man Utd interested in the French striker, Jonathan Johnson has told CaughtOffside that he will most likely move to Spain.

"Marcus Thuram will become a free agent this summer and is seen by a number of clubs across Europe as an attractive option in the market this summer," Johnson said.

“I understand that the biggest interest is coming from Spain and Italy, and it seems very likely that he will go to a Spanish club. Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are two names worth watching.

The most likely choice is Spain

The French forward would be a useful option for a club like United. In the Bundesliga this season, he has scored 13 goals and has 6 assists.

Averaging 3.1 shots per game, the 25-year-old tends to occupy useful positions in the bottom third of the pitch.

Chelsea have also been linked with the striker but the lack of European football seems to have left them out of the game.

"With Chelsea, there was interest in January but understandably he decided not to budge," Johnson added. "Looking at the state of Chelsea at the moment, it's a tough buy, and now they're not going to be in the Champions League either. It was a smart decision.

"If I had to choose two possible destinations for him, I think Atleti and Inter are the favorites.

"He has a few months left until the end of his contract, so there will be options for him, and I think he will make his choice after the Bundesliga season is over."

Ten Hag will have to return to the drawing board and come up with a new plan for the summer. Kane remains a top target, although he won't come from Tottenham on the cheap. Although his contract is due to expire in 2024, Daniel Levy is said to still expect a fee in excess of £100m for his prized possession.
