Former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Jurgen Klopp's side should make Joelinton a transfer target amid rumors of a summer move to Mason Mount

Liverpool are expected to prioritize transfers for Newcastle United star Joelinton over Chelsea-contract rebel Mason Mount. That is the view of Dietmar Hamann, who believes Jurgen Klopp's side need the 'physical presence' the Brazilian will provide.

Joelinton has enjoyed his best season in black and white, with memories of his days as a struggling striker now a distant memory. The former record-holder has shone in both central and left-wing positions, with eight goals and three assists ahead of Chelsea's final day trip.

The Blues have endured a dismal campaign and look set to lose Mount, an academy graduate as he enters the final year of his contract. Recent reports suggest that Manchester United have emerged as favorites to sign the England international, although Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked.

Klopp is set to oversee major rebuilding in Merseyside this summer, with a Europa League spot after a difficult season. Hamann doesn't think Liverpool can tempt Joelinton this summer, but believes the 26-year-old is the perfect candidate to bolster the Reds' midfield.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder told Online Casinos:

"I wouldn't pay the amount Chelsea wanted for Mason Mount. I think the players in midfield are very similar in terms of technical ability, Liverpool need a little bit better physicality. "Newcastle United's Joelinton has the physical presence Liverpool need, he can score goals too. Alexis Mac Allister would be a great signing but they'll have to fight against Manchester City to get his signature. his.

"I don't think Joelinton is leaving Newcastle because he's playing in the Champions League next season, but a player of his size and physique would be great in that Liverpool midfield."
