The first Mercedes-Benz vehicles were created by Karl Benz. In 1901, he created the Benz Patent Motorwagen, which was the first gasoline car and introduced it to the public under Daimler Motors Corporation. Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler later combined their companies in 1926, and thus began the production of the first brand-name Mercedes-Benz models.
